Time to make some changes!

Hey everyone!

It’s time for an update. It has been a long time since you have seen activity out of DS Media Labs. We have some big and exciting changes we want to share with you.

Some of you may or may not know, but the DS Media Labs team was acquired through a talent acquisition in January of 2010. This limits the amount of time we can devote to DS projects, it has made it challenging for the team. Time to make some changes!

The team has planned on shipping Mixr, our Pro DJ App for iPad, numerous times and missed every deadline. One individual even made the comment that “Mixr is the Duke Nukem Forever of music apps.” We have to say, that was pretty funny and sad at the same time. No, literally, we laughed and then cried. We were falling into the same trap of George Broussard and 3D realms. We kept telling ourselves let’s make it perfect and use the latest and greatest stuff Apple has given us in the latest OS. With our limited time, this quickly became a vicious cycle. Time to make some changes!

With all that said, time for some really great news from the DS team. So, what are we doing to fix things around here and what is our plans going forward? Time to make some changes! Here is the breakdown:

1. We partnered with an amazing executive team. Melissa Valenti is now our President and Dave Fechtman is our Chief Marketing Officer. This is huge for us, since we just like to create cool stuff and not deal with the boring but essential sides of the business. We are not saying that Melissa and Dave are boring, quite the opposite actually!

2. Gary Melendez resigned from his day job and is now on full time with DS Media Labs. With his full time on engineering along with our other resources, this has been huge for us!

3. We signed a partnership with Tapsquare, LLC. Art Gillespie and company will be working with DS Media Labs to bring you an exciting release of Mixr on iOS 5 come this fall. There is a very exciting roadmap for Mixr and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.

4. We have started on a plan to update all of our applications. The first of our apps to get some TLC was Light-O-Matic. We are in the process of updating our other applications too. This includes Light Riders, FLOverload, and Stun-O-Matic. Regarding all the questions about Ramp Champ, there will be answers soon enough, please be patient.

5. Peter Polack has joined DS Media Labs as our Design Director heading up our game designs going forward. Peter has games licensed with Addicting Games and we are excited to have him join the team. He is currently evaluating our current games to see what we can do to make them more fun as well as planning out some new games we are very excited about.

These are the first of many steps we are taking to make things better for our users. We want to apologize to everyone who has backed us and purchased our products. We also want to apologize to everyone who has been super patient regarding Mixr. We are sorry for all the delays, but trust us, you will be thankful that we took our time. Mixr is amazing!

We are alive and kicking because of your support and we thank you. DS Media Labs will have a lot to show you in 2011 and beyond.

Much love to all of our users!
